History Presentations on UN

Hello Class!

About the UN Presentation we have to do for SBQ. The groupings are as follow:

- Zhixiang, Eujin, Junice, Qianxiang and Tobias
- Zhixing, Matthew, Jackson, Samuel.
-Shiying, Daniel, Daryl, Melvin and Tok.


The first group, Zhixiang's group, is doing on Security Council.

Topics to discuss:
- Features (E.g. Veto powers)
- Effectiveness and need for reforms
- Briefly on the role of Secretary-General in Security Council.
- Evolution (1940s-1950s, Late 1950s-1980s, late 1980s -2000)

The second group, Zhixing's Group, will focus on te Role of Secretary Generals (HOW SLACK!)

Talk about:
- Different personalities
- Impacts on UN (positive and Negative)
- Trygve Lie (1946-1953) all the way to KOFI ANNAN

The last group, Shiying's group, will focus on Collective Security.

Topics:
- Preventive Diplomacy
-Peacekeeping
- Peace Enforcement, Differend from enforcement
-Enforcement
-Peacekeeping:
i) 1945-1988(Traditional: to just observe, monitor and report)
ii) 1988-2000 (Multinational: involement of many people+ interstate+ Intra State)
More active missions e.g. UNTAG, UNTAC, UNPROFOR, UNIIMOG
